As you can see by our new title, the Asthma Coalition is switching gears. We are happy to
report that we have been awarded funding through 2016, however changes are being
made because of this new round of funding. As you can probobally tell, the service area
has been decreased from the WNY region to only that of Erie County. This means that all
of our programming and services can only be offered to those living and working in Buffalo
and the surrounding communities. This was in no way our decision as we know the
asthma need that is present in the WNY region, however at this time we have to follow the
funding and conform to the boundaries of the New York State Department of Health.
Changes are inevitable and we will do our best to keep you updated.
At this time our Resource Line Services have been suspended through this transition
period.
The Erie County Asthma Coalition of WNY is a program of the Western New York Public
Health Alliance (WNYPHA).
Our Mission is to effectively improve the health and wellness of children with asthma and
their families in the diverse communities of Erie County.
We are currently funded through the NYSDOH and works under the chronic disease
umbrella of the Western New York Public Health Alliance (WNYPHA).
The WNYPHA is composed of the Public Health Commissioners and Directors of all eight
counties of Western New York, as well as the representation from academia, healthcare
providers, the community, payers, and hospitals. It has been awarded the grant “A System’
s Approach to Reducing the Burden of Asthma”.
